Prom night is one event which takes up lot of careful planning and organization months ahead. It is important that everything goes well at this event and no mishaps occur. You can actually hire a security firm to help you manage the safety of the students and everyone else. A complete surveillance system including CCTV cameras should also be placed as extra measures.
Here are some tips to ensure that the prom at your school is safe, secure and nothing unfortunate happens on this special event.
1. Identification Bands and Entry Points
This is the simplest way to ensure that no unidentified person enters the premises of the prom. Have colorful wristbands prepared in advance and when the couples enter, make sure all of them would wear one. The funky colors and designs will be attractive to the young people and they will wear them with pleasure.
However, with the increasing violence occurring at schools, it is essential to have metal detectors around as well so nobody can sneak in any kind of weapon.
2. Chaperons
Another security breach could be some intruder posing as a chaperone. By maintaining a list of chaperones and issuing them temporary identification cards, you can ensure that your teens will be supervised.
3. Rules for Admittance and Leave
Most of the teens would not like these rules but it is essential for them to follow these rules. Make sure that these rules are followed by both the chaperones and the students would follow them.
4. Managing Unwanted Guests
With the cases of violence towards school increasing day by day, it is essential that no unwanted guests are allowed in the party. Those who still insist on crashing the party must be asked to leave by the chaperones. If they don’t, then you can also ask one of the security personnel.
5. Stay Organized
Work out a plan in advance. Make sure all your preparations, including the security and safety issues, are managed. Work in collaboration with the security company to ensure the security and safety of the everyone present at the prom. It is in fact best to work out a whole plan for security.
6. Checkpoints
Along with volunteers and parents, it is best to place some security guards in plain clothes in the parameters and checkpoints of the prom. Their presence can prove to be effective in case of an undesired situation.
7. Schedules and security plans
Schedules for chaperones are already in your planning, but having handy security plans made with the assistance of the security provider should also be handed out. In case of an emergency, every chaperone would know what to do and how to contact the security in-charge.
8. First Aid Kit
No event should be organized without the first aid preparation. Any accident can happen any time and having a first aid kit around can be handy. If possible, you can even have a doctor on the premises to treat anything serious.
